4th Street South

Project Location:
4th Street South, from the east side of Park Avenue to underneath the 11th Street bridge (along the north side of US Bank Stadium)

Construction Dates:
Week of September 25, 2017
Curb and gutter work will be done in the first week. Plans are to mill and overlay the street on October 16 and 17, 2017. Back up date is October 18, 2017.

Construction Start Date:
Curb and gutter work starts May 8.
Milling and Paving work on 13th Avenue South starts May 16.
7th Street South will be resurfaced June 3rd and 4th.

Duration of Construction:
Concrete replacement under traffic will take 2 weeks.
Asphalt mill and overlay work will take 2 days during which the westbound ramp from Hiawatha Avenue will be closed.

May 15, 2017 Update: Milling and Paving on 13th Avenue South will take place on May 16 and 17. 7th Street South will be resurfaced June 3rd and 4th.

May 5, 2017 Update: Miscellaneous curb and gutter replacement will start next week. The mill and overlay work will take place May 16-17.

June 4, 2017 Update: Project completed.

8th Street Southeast

Project Location:
8th Street Southeast, from Central Avenue Northeast to 15th Avenue Southeast

Construction Start Date:
August 1, 2017

Project Timeline:
Milling will start on Tuesday, August 1, and Asphalt Paving will start on Wednesday, August 2. Asphalt Paving will be completed approximately Friday, August 8, weather and other uncontrollable factors permitting.
The project will be resurfaced from east to west.

Paving scheduled to be completed by Thursday August 10, 2017 barring rain delay or other unforeseen circumstances.

Private utilities are still working on underground structures on the project when their work is complete the city can start resurfacing the street.

The city asphalt mill and overlay work is expected to take about 4 or 5 days to complete.

April 29, 2016: Private utilities have started work in the area ahead of the street resurfacing project.

June 17, 2016: The project is complete except on Irving Avenue between 58th and 57th Streets, next to Susan Anthony School.

April 29, 2016: Removal and replacement of miscellaneous concrete structures is complete.
Street milling will be complete on April 29th. Asphalt paving on 56th Street was delayed this week because of the rain.
Private utilities continue to work in this area ahead of the City of Minneapolis resurfacing the streets.

Construction Start Date: 
Curb removal and replacement of miscellaneous concrete structures started April 15, 2016.
Resurfacing on Standish Area is complete 6/15/16.

Duration of Construction:
8 weeks

Traffic Impact:
When milling and overlaying the streets they will be closed by the city in front of a home or business for approximately 2 days. The days may or may not be consecutive.
Private utilities are working in the area ahead of the street resurfacing project.
Miscellaneous concrete structure replacement has started. Some of these areas will be posted "No Parking" by the City.

Warrington Neighborhood Area & 4th Avenue South

Construction Start Date:
Project work is complete. There are 4 areas that are on hold until underground utility issues are resolved. 3 of 4 blocks of this project that were on hold due to voids under pavement will be resurfaced in May 2017.

The 3900 block of 5th Avenue South is scheduled for Milling and Paving the week of May 15, 2017.

Duration of Construction:
The project is complete. There are 3 areas that are on hold until underground utility issues are resolved.
The sections of 41st Street East from Columbus Avenue to Chicago Avenue, and 39th Street East from Portland to Oakland were both resurfaced on November 3, 2016 after being on hold for sewer work.

Traffic Impact:
Street closures, temporary parking restrictions.

Project Updates

August 17, 2016: Asphalt mill and overlay work will start on the project on August 25, 2016 and will continue until the project is complete.

August 10, 2016: Miscellaneous concrete work on the project has been completed as of July 20, 2016. Asphalt resurfacing work will start mid-August on the streets near Richard E Green Central Park Elementary School and the Bryant Jr. High School. City crews will resurface the rest of the streets in the project when the gas company completes their work. All work on the project is expected to be completed in 2016, except the area described in the August 1 update below.

August 1, 2016: A section of the Warrington area resurfacing will be postponed until 2017, to coordinate with planned sewer work.
